Dear Friend:
My name is Eric Johnson. I am a local attorney whose roots run deep in West Dallas, having lived there for much of my childhood. Although I no longer live in West Dallas, I have remained involved in the West Dallas community and wanted to share with you one of its best kept secrets: Westmoreland Heights Community Center (WHCC).
WHCC is located at 3739 Homeland Street in the heart of West Dallas. Since opening its doors a year ago, WHCC has been serving the needs of West Dallas’ children and senior citizens by providing them with quality programs and activities ranging from after school programs and summer camps to arts and crafts and exercise programs.
I am writing to you on behalf of WHCC to ask you to join us in an Educational Toy and Book Drive benefiting the children of West Dallas. Beginning on November 1, 2007, we are asking local businesses, churches, service organizations, and individuals to collect educational toys and books for children of all ages, gift wrap them, label each gift with the age and gender that the gift is appropriate for, and deliver the gifts to WHCC by December 8, 2007. We need your help in collecting gifts at your place of employment, church, and from your friends and family and delivering them to WHCC!
All of the gifts that we receive from the Educational Toy and Book Drive will be distributed at the WHCC Holiday Party to children from the surrounding neighborhood. We plan to have plenty of holiday music, food, arts and crafts, and even a special appearance by Santa Claus to hand out the gifts! The WHCC Holiday Party will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 from 1 PM to 5 PM at WHCC.

Thanks, Ms. Beltran. I would like to confirm that the Center would be glad to receive gifts up to the day of the party, and would also welcome any volunteers who would like to assist the day of the party. Nice blog, by the way. I will add this to my favorites!
