Auto theft is up this year in West Dallas compared to last year. If you do not normally drive your vehicle between midnight and 5 in the morning, and your vehicle is not parked in a secure location (such as a garage), then you may want to consider registering your vehicle with the H.E.A.T Program. Registration of your vehicle authorizes law enforcement officers to stop the vehicle and verify ownership between 1:00 am and 5:00 am. More information about H.E.A.T. see www.txwatchyourcar.com.
THIS SATURDAY morning (March 10th), the Dallas Police at Lakewest (at 3737 Goldman) will be registering vehicles for FREE. As part of the service, the officers will also VIN-etch your windows (a $10 - $100 value!!!)
